Lamplight Manor
Lamplight Lane VI

Note from the Artist:
"In My Fathers House are many Mansions."
We've followed the delightful Brooke Windermer as it wanders past some of the humble pleasures of the English countryside; the cozy cottages, quaint lampposts, stone bridges, country churches, and charming Inns that give this historic (and Imaginary) region its special savor.
In Lamplight Manor, sixth in my Lamplight lane series, the Brooke quite unexpectedly takes us to a rustic treasure hidden away in England's Cotswold's-a manor house so magnificent that its stands as a proud proclamation of our instinct for elegance. We tie our skiff to the landing and climb the stone staircase to marvel at the wonders that await.
How I would enjoy a private tour of the house and grounds: the sweeping spiral staircases, the luxurious tapestries on the walls, the libraries with their shelves full of first editions, and rich, leather upholstered armchairs. The passage I've quoted from the gospel of John reminds us that tasteful opulence has its place in the house of our Lord; in my imagination, a mansion like this one provides a preview of the the glories of heaven.
Indeed, a Celtic Cross adorns the massive chimney, while a sheltered old gazebo provides a tranquil retreat for worship. Here we can anticipate the delights that await the children of God.

Hometown Morning
Hometown Morning VI

Note from the Artist: I think that in my hometown memories collection, I've established-at least to my own satisfaction-that you can go home again. Perhaps not with a boy's innocence and enthusiasm, but certainly with an adult's fond memories and deep appreciation for the gifts of the community, of belonging, of shared values and dreams that are the essence of the hometown experience. Hometown Morning is the sixth and final look at the hometown of my boyhood-and, I hope, at some of the things you remember most warmly about your hometown as well.
In this series of works we have revisited my favorite places: Town square, the quiet lanes and busy street corners, the country chapel, and the stone bridge. These were the stages on which the drama of my youth played out with all the joy and high spirits and occasional heartaches that a passionate young man brings to living. I was a newspaper boy, so I knew the morning rhythms of my town, and how well I remember some of the characters who gave my hometown its character. They live on-in my memory, now in my art. My newspaper route took me into the heart of my hometown and introduced me to the infinite variety of human experience. Though Hometown Morning will be the last work in my Hometown Memories collection, I see it as e beginning, rather than and end. After all, I met my future wife Nanette on my paper route. And, for me, that was the beginning of all good things. Edition size: 24x30, 25.5x34,30x40
A Peaceful Time
Places in the Heart II

A quiet evening,
A peaceful time,
A life worth living,
Because you're mine.
The gifts of love are beyond compare, and chief among them is a peace that passeth understanding. Your mind, your intellect cannot provide the balm of peace; that comes only from a heart overflowing with love. I believe that the gift of peace is ultimately from Christ, but I also recognize the very crucial role that a loving partner and a happy home can play.
That domestic tranquility, as it fills a home to overflowing and permeates your daily world, is the subject of A Peaceful Time, second in the trio of prints conjuring images of very special places in the heart. Here is a cottage radiant with the light of love; it pours through the windows and bathes the cobbled path.
Evening Majesty
The glory of wilderness extends beyond the domain of
daylight. In my first two collections celebrating the majesty of mountains, we
rejoice at the beginning and the end of a perfect day. Now, as we bid a fond
adieu to the twentieth century, we move on, appropriately, to savor the
pleasures of evening. The real star of "Evening Majesty", first in my
new Beginning of a Perfect Evening collection, is the luminous sunset. The
painting is rich in crimson undertones and a radiant sense of color that
diminishes as we move away from the horizon. Light spills from the windows of
the river-rock cabin, in glorious harmony with the glow of sunset. This rustic
abode offers all the comforts of home, even and old well that stands behind the
cabin to cabin to provide cool, clear mountain water. "Evening
Majesty" is truly majesty in its scope; perhaps that's another connection
the painting has with the turning of the millennium. To my mind, this would be
the perfect place to spend New Year's 2000, curled up by the fire. And by the
way, the little Labrador puppy waiting there is Toby, the first male besides
myself to join the Kinkade family.

" I try to walk a new pathway to its end"
(Sold out at Publisher!)
-Journal of Thomas Kinkade
What's around the next bend? What lies at the end of the trails? When I walk an unfamiliar path, curiosity drives me on. The Forest Chapel portrays a daydream I've had many times: Often while hiking some wooded trail I've come upon a spectacular flowering meadow and thought, "what a wonderful place to worship God." The idea of a chapel in an unspoiled natural setting has intrigued me for years.
In the Forest Chapel I have tried to capture a harmony between what's within and what's without. Light glows from the chapel windows, suggesting the warm spirit of fellowship within. Shafts of morning light filter, golden, through the trees, dappling the forest floor with a divine light. The sweet melody of psalm singing rises up, to be joined by the gentle murmur of the brook that flows past the house of worship.
A Holy spirit dwells in the chapel and in the glade that houses it. Both proclaim the presence of God.
-Thomas Kinkade

Sunrise, A Prayer of Hope for the Millennium of Light!
As we approach the year 2000, I feel compelled as an artist to celebrate not the passing of the old millennium but the beginning of the new millennium. To me the new millennium represents a pivotal point in human history -- a chance to change the world for the better.
As I ponder the events of the last thousand years, I see much evidence of the
darkness of this world. Yet rather than spend our time cursing the darkness, if
each of us would let our light shine the world would be a much brighter place
indeed. I truly believe that this next millennium will come to be characterized
as the "Millennium of Light" and I pray my Sunrise painting will be
symbolic of a new dawning of God's grace and love in the years ahead.
Let's pray together that God's light will shine anew in the new millennium.
God Bless, Thom

Pools of Serenity

It may be that all of us carry in our souls a memory of Eden. That could account for the attraction I've long felt for the gardens. "Pools of Serenity" speaks to those personal associations....and to something more. I've reached into the core of my spiritual life to express what I can only call the wonderfully comforting friendship I feel with my God.
