"This painting represents a new direction in my artwork; it was an idea that came to me right out of the blue. I wanted to paint the essence of flowers, freed, so to speak, from a vase or an objective background or scene - flowers that would not have to compete with any other element. I also wanted to work with paints of a darkert note and more contrast.
For me, the whole joy of painting is seeing something that moves me and then sharing the vision. In Out of the Blue , I wanted to capture the soft, loose and ephemeral qualities of flowers in a dynamic fashion."
